Malaysian aircraft techie gets 10 yrs in jail on terror charge

A Malaysian court today sentenced an aircraft technician to 10 years in jail for promoting terrorist acts in this Muslim-majority country.
High Court judge Azman Abdullah sentenced Nor Hafizy Che Meh, 39, after he pleaded guilty to the charges, adding"A person who is younger than you can think wisely and I hope you will repent".
Nor Hafizy was charged with promoting Islamic State (IS) membership at his houselast year.
He was also charged with allowing a meeting related to the terrorist group at his house.
The technician, who has two wives, was accused under the Penal Code for providing facilities in support of terrorist acts.
Initial investigation showed that the accused was interested in jihad and the IS group since 2013 when he followed Facebook postings of Mohd Lotfi Ariffin, member of Ajnad Al-Sham militant group in Syria, the Star newspaper said.
He later used his Facebook account to share information on IS with his friends.
