Truck driver B Prabakar, 33, and crane operator C Solomon Raj, 23, claimed that they were beaten up and splashed with hot water by seven policemen when they were arrested more than five years ago.
Justice John Louis O' Hara held the defendants were liable for the pain and suffering undergone by the two plaintiffs and the Government was liable for vicarious liability.
The two men claimed they were arrested from a parking lot here on Dec 23, 2008 and were tortured by seven policemen for two days. They were forced to admit to various criminal offences and were released after five days.
