Hostel superintendent and medical college vice-principal M A Rashid told PTI that one child had died yesterday while nine others on Friday-Saturday.
He said 27 children with similar symptoms have been admitted to the hospital, four of them today, all from Kaliachak area.
The children were admitted with complaints of high fever, vomiting and convulsion.
Asked the reason for their illness, Rashid said investigation was on. The team of experts, who had arrived from School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata, had taken samples for the purpose.
However, the number of admission of children had gone down now, he said, adding only four were shifted to the hospital today.
