Male nurse arrested for robbing, killing elderly couple

The Delhi Police has arrested a 22-year-old man who was on the run after allegedly robbing and killing an elderly couple whom he was employed to take care of.
Dinesh killed the bed-ridden Ram Lal Bhutani and his wife Kaushal on the night of September 1 and fled with valuables, they added. For Kaushal, it was a cruel twist of fate, as she was killed just a day before her birthday.
The next day the couple's house was found locked from outside by another attendant, Dulal Sarkar, who was on morning duty, after which the police were called in.
Kaushal's body was found with head injuries, suspected to have been inflicted with a hammer, while Ram Lal had been smothered with a pillow and then strangulated, said a senior police officer.

Dulal also told police that he called Dinesh, who told him that the couple was in hospital and he was going out of station, the officer said.
After investigations, the police traced him to Ara in Bihar and nabbed him yesterday.

The accused told police that he had panicked and killed Ram Lal after the man woke up and caught him stealing. When his wife woke up due to the noises, Dinesh killed her too.
The accused had stolen gold jewellery, including rings, chains, wrist watches, silver coins, the couple's cell phones, Rs 6,500 in cash and some jars of dry fruits, said the officer.

He is currently in police custody and being questioned whether he had any accomplices. Police are also yet to recover the weapon used to kill Kaushal.
