Jain said that, along with three other members, she conducted visits at various places across the state over the last few months to ascertain how the prostitution is increasing with the growth of tourism and industrial sector.
"We found the situation very alarming. Besides traditional flesh trade, male prostitution is also increasing in Jaisalmer," Jain said.
She said that female sex workers were active in the area and also being trafficked to other parts of the country like Mumbai, Delhi and to Gulf countries.
Social activist Jugna Swamy claimed that some of the camel riders were working as sex workers.

"Several camel riders have been found involved in male prostitution," she said.
"There are many foreign tourists both male and female who come here and stay for 4-5 months. They live with local boys and girls with consent of their family and go back. This has become a trade for particular local families and a kind of prostitution," she alleged.
Dinesh Joshi, another activist works for HIV positive people in Jodhpur division, said that there were almost 15,000 HIV positive people in the region comprising Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jalore and Pali and prostitution was one of the reasons behind the increasing number of HIV patients.
"We will prepare a detailed report and submit to the state government so that appropriate action to check the menace could be taken at the government level," Jain said.
Jaisalmer SP Rajiv Pachar, who recently took over, could not be reached for comments.
