Malian voters are choosing their next president who will try to lead the country out of crisis after separatist rebels and Islamic extremists unleashed months of chaos.
Today's presidential runoff vote pits former Prime Minister Ibrahim Boubacar Keita against former Finance Minister Soumaila Cisse.
Keita appears poised to win after drawing nearly 40 per cent in the first round.
Many polling stations were expected to open late amid heavy rain in the capital.
Mali was once one of West Africa's most stable democracies.
After a March 2012 coup, separatist rebels and later Islamic militants seized control of northern Mali. They were driven into the desert after France launched a military offensive to oust them.
Some USD 4 billion in aid is on hold until a new government is in place.
