BJP MP Anurag Thakur today hit back at Congress for its criticism of the NDA government over the exit of Vijay Mallya from India, saying it was during the UPA rule that the beleaguered businessman got loans worth crores which have not been repaid to banks.
"It was under Congress-led UPA government that Vijay Mallya got loans worth crores even when he was a defaulter. Congress should first answer who helped Bofors scam accused Ottavio Quattrocchi in fleeing the country? How the Bhopal gas tragedy accused Warren Anderson managed to leave India when they were in power?" said Thakur.
The young BJP leader, who was here for a party function, was asked by reporters about the Congress blaming the BJP-led Centre for the debt-laden entrepreneur leaving the country at a time when he was facing legal proceedings for recovery of Rs 9,000-crore bank loans.
