In a fresh salvo against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee today termed the Centre as a 'daku' (hooligan) government and threatened to take legal steps for "bypassing the state government" by trying to contact her officials directly to get information.
She accused the Modi government of running the administration in a dictatorial way.
The West Bengal Chief Minister was reacting to a letter sent by the Urban Development Ministry to Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), asking it to furnish comparative revenue collection statements for November 2015 and November 2016 for the PMO.
"Just now, they received a letter from the Urban Development Ministry addressed to the under-secretary of Urban Affairs department of KMC, stating that the PMO has desired to obtain comparative revenue collection statements for November '15 and November '16.
"There is a system in every federal structure. If a government wants information it can talk to the other government... But look at the attitude of this (Centre) government. I do not know what they think of themselves. There is Hitleri kaida of this government," Banerjee told reporters at the state secretariat.
"My question is how can the PMO or any department without talking to the state government directly write a letter to the under secretary? This is unethical and it has never happened earlier," she said.

The TMC leader charged that in the name of demonetisation, the Modi government was looting money of common people.
"In the name of 'notebandi' (demonetisation), Modi is looting money of the common people and claiming that they have earned so much...Modi government has become a daku government.. It (demonetisation) is an eyewash.. It has become the biggest mockery," Banerjee said.
"From the very beginning they started bulldozing us, but we tolerated. But tolerance does not mean that it is one-sided... You are bulldozing and imposing yourself on all states," she said.
The Chief Minister had also kicked up a storm on the Army's presence at toll plazas in West Bengal. She remained at the state secretariat overnight in protest, asking was it an "army coup", a remark that invited a sharp condemnation from the Centre which said it showed her "political frustration".
