Mamata asks people not to spread canards nor heed canards

"Do not spread canards nor pay heed to canards. Remain with your heads held high," Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress chief, said at the fag end of a government function here.

"Till my last breath no harm will be caused by me," Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress chief said.

"We will not tolerate any disturbance and chaos," Banerjee, who has come under attack from opposition parties for political violence, said.

"I have no family. People are my family. I will continue to serve the poor people as long as I remain alive," she said.

"We will create good people. I hope you will not believe in canards. I hope you not believe in misinformation. I hope you will not believe in guns," she said, adding that she had instructed the police commissioner of Asansol to seize arms since some people were trying to foment trouble in certain areas with the help of the coal mafia.

She, however, did not refer to the recent incidents of violence involving TMC and CPI(M), including an alleged attack on senior CPI(M) leader Rezzak Mollah in South 24 Parganas district.
