West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said she would visit Bangladesh on June 5 and come back on June 6 after the signing of the Land Boundary Agreement.
On May 28, the state's Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Partha Chatterjee, first broke the news that Mamata would accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his Dhaka trip. The Chief Minister today confirmed it.
"I will be reaching Bangladesh on June 5 and will be back on June 6 after the signing of the Land Boundary Agreement," Banerjee told reporters at the state secretariat.
Parliament had recently passed the constitution amendment bill seeking to settle India's 41-year-old border issue with Bangladesh.
The legislation would operationalise the 1974 India-Bangladesh Land Boundary agreement that provides for exchange of 161 enclaves adversely held by the the two countries.
