West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today strongly condemned the rampage at Kalyani University in which two senior officials were allegedly assaulted by agitators, while announcing her government will take strong action against those involved in it.
"Injustice has been done. None of those involved in the case will be spared. Five persons have been arrested in this connection," Banerjee said.
"What has happened on Tuesday is condemnable. We will take serious action. I don't support such a confrontation," she said.
"If there is any problem, talk to the authorities concerned to settle the dispute amicably by going above politics. There should not be any misunderstanding," the Chief Minister said.
Observing that fault was in both the sides, Banerjee said the administration has been asked to look into it.
"Question does not arise of any mercy after such unpardonable offence. I always take action. Not a single case is left in which action was not taken," she said giving various instances.
