West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be on a nine-day visit to China from June 22 at the invitation of the Chinese government, the Consul General of China in Kolkata, Ma Jhanwu, said today.
She would visit three Chinese cities -- Beijing, Shanghai and Jinan-- during her stay, he said.
The mayor of Kunming would visit Beijing to meet Banerjee and the state leader of Beijing would also call upon her, he told reporters here.
"This is the first visit of the chief minister to China after receiving numerous invitations.
"We consider this visit as important as West Bengal is the fourth largest economy of India," he said.
The chief minister and her delegation would also meet CEOs and several business people of China, Jhanwu said.
The details of the visit are being worked out by the Chinese government and the Ministry of External Affairs, he said.
