"As I had said yesterday that Mamata Banerjee has raised certain issues regarding which talks will be held with the government. In the meanwhile, Congress President got a message that she (Banerjee) wanted to talk to her. Effort was made to reach her on phone but the contact could not be established," party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi told reporters here.

Dwivedi said that after Banerjee could not be reached, her party leader and Railway Minister Mukul Roy was given the message that the Congress President wants to talk to the Trinamool chief.

"Efforts were also made from the Prime Minister's Office to talk to her (Banerjee) but no communication could be established so far," he said.

Dwivedi said the issue of Banerjee's party withdrawing support from the UPA was also discussed in Congress Core Group meeting but refused to elaborate.
