Man accused of murder in UP held in Thane

A man, wanted in a murder case in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh district, has been arrested from Kalwa area here, police said today.
Binde Kamleshwar Yadav alias Vinod (47) was nabbed by Thane police from Kalwa Naka on Wednesday and a country-made revolver and live cartridges were recovered from him, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Parag Manere told reporters here.
Manere said Vinod was among the eight-member gang accused of killing 50-year-old businessman Sripati Yadav in Mehanagar town of UP's Azamgarh last month.
UP police had alerted Thane police on Vinod's whereabouts in Maharashtra.
Acting on a tip off, a team of crime Unit-I of Thane police commissionerate kept a vigil around a hotel in Kalwa Naka on Wednesday and nabbed him, Manere said.
According to police, Vinod was a contract killer and the prime accused in the murder case. He was hired by Yadav's son, whose name was given as Mahendra.

Mahendra allegedly paid Rs 1.50 lakh to Vinod and his aides for killing his father, who was involved in an alleged extra-marital affair.
On February 6, when Yadav was returning home, the miscreants apprehended him and shot five bullets, the DCP said.
District police in UP had nabbed seven persons and Yadav's son, while Vinod was absconding since then.
Vinod was produced before the local court yesterday which remanded him to four days police custody, Manere said.
Police said Vinod faces charges of murder, attempt to murder, looting and robbery against him in Jahanaganj, Ranisarai and Mehnagar towns in Uttar Pradesh.
Further probe into the matter was on and the accused will be handed over to UP police, he said.
