A 32-year-old man wanted for allegedly gunning down a former councillor of Ghaziabad Municipal Council has been arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.
The accused, identified as Bhupender Singh alias Bhupi, a resident of Ghaziabad, was arrested on Saturday following a tip-off.
Singh is alleged to have murdered Hari Mohan Kaushik, a former councillor of Ghaziabad Municipal Council, in October last year.
"On Oct. 16 last year, Singh along with his associates, namely Chunu, Pardeep, Rajbir and Billu, shot dead Hari Mohan by indiscriminately firing upon him in a case of contract killing," said DCP (Special Cell), Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
"We had got information that Singh would be coming to ISBT Sarai Kale Khan to meet some associates late in the evening. A trap was laid and the accused was apprehended from outside the ISBT," he said, adding that Delhi Police keeps a tab on inter- state criminals and their movements in the national capital.
A search of the accused led to the seizure of a pistol with four live cartridges of 7.65 bore, police said. A case under Arms Act has been registered against Singh in this regard, they said.

"Hari Mohan was accused of murdering one Prashant Kaushik, son of Samajwadi Party leader Sudhir Kaushik, who was killed by his licensed 9mm pistol in Shastri Nagar of Ghaziabad.
"Hari Mohan had allegedly opened fire on his nephew over a dispute," said Yadav.
