Man arrested after jumping furlough in murder case

A 50-year-old man, who jumped furlough after being sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case, was arrested, the police said today.
Amrik Singh has been arrested in several cases, including murder, attempt to murder, Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), they said.
"In 1998, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. On March 9, he was released on furlough for three weeks from Tihar jail but did not surrender after the expiry of the furlough," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Deo said.
During his furlough, he threatened his cousin Rakesh at gunpoint and asked him to evacuate a property in Mangolpuri here.
The police kept a lookout on all the hideouts of the accused.
On September 20, the police came to know that Singh was hiding somewhere in Bharartpur, Rajasthan. A trap was laid and he was nabbed from near Murli Cinema in Bharatpur yesterday, the officer said.

During an interrogation, Singh said that he was earlier associated with Krishan Pehalwan gang. He had killed one Ved Parkash and was serving life sentence in that case, he said.
Singh had also killed his niece and her husband. While he was in jail, he came to know that some of his relatives and rivals are making plans against him.
He came out on furlough to settle scores with them and did not surrender, the DCP said.
