Accused Nikhil Thakur, a resident of Sector 45 here, used to stand in the ATM kiosk beforehand with an intention to target bank customers. Whenever a customer tried to carry out transaction like withdrawal or depositing cash, the ATM would not work and he would offer his help to the customer in completing their transactions successfully, police said.
In this process, Nikhil used to see the password of the ATM card and exchange their genuine card fraudulently with some other card. He would then withdraw the amount from the cash dispensing machine by using the victim's card, police said.
With the arrest of accused, seven ATM fraud cases had been solved and complaints in this regard had been registered at several police stations here, police said.
