A 22-year-old man was arrested today for allegedly attacking an 18-year-old Delhi University student with a blade in north Delhi's Timarpur, the police said.
The woman was injured in the waist and required 38 stitches, they said.
The accused, Sanjeet, was arrested today. He is accused in three cases of robbery and a burglary case, the police said.
It was a blind case since there was no CCTV footage of the incident and no clues, they said.
After the incident was reported yesterday, the police made a list of persons involved in similar incidents. Sanjeet was nabbed today from the area, the police said.
He had come out of jail on July 8. He is a cannabis and alcohol addict, they said.

The accused used to roam near the CNG Park in Gandhi Vihar since his parents did not allow him to come to their house, the police said.
His parents were upset with his addictions and had snapped with him four years back, they added.
Yesterday, Sanjeet had attacked the student while she was going to college.
Initially, the police had suspected that a stalker had attacked her, but their probe indicated that it was a thief who wanted to cut off the strap of her bag.
It was found that Sanjeet wanted to steal the woman's bag by cutting its straps, but he ended up stabbing her in the waist, the police said.
The woman ended up getting 38 stitches in her waist. She was discharged from the hospital yesterday.
