Gayan Chand Shahni was nabbed yesterday evening during a routine check by the border-guarding force Sashstra Seema Bal.
150 gm of smack worth Rs 40 lakh was recovered from him, SSB Inspector Ramesh Kumar said.
He has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, he added.
SSB guards the 1,751 km long porous Indo-Nepal border.
Uttar Pradesh shares a 599.3 km long open border with Nepal touching seven districts - Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Sravasti, Balrampur, Sidhharthnagar and Maharajganj.
