A 32-year-old man has been arrested for duping over Rs two crore from several distributors of electronic goods in national capital region, police said.
The Economic Offence Wing sleuths of Delhi Police arrested Mohit Wadhawa few days back, following a complaint by Palvinder Singh Rakhara -- a prominent distributor of air conditioners of branded companies.
Rakhara had filed a complaint against Wadhawa in March last year alleging that the latter had approached him and projected himself as a big businessman with connections and having bulk orders from various housing projects with reputed companies, a senior police official said.
The conman convinced Rakhara to give goods on seven days credit with post dated cheques (PDCs).
Wadhawa had placed many orders and issued PDC, which initially got cleared but later cheques worth Rs 32 lakh bounced, for which he gave excuses and also changed his mobile number and his address.
Using the same modus operandi, Wadhawa had cheated around 18 such distributors in Delhi and NCR, who had approached the EOW, said K K Vyas, DCP Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch.
He had been earlier arrested in similar cases in 2011 but got bail from the High Court. He also has several cases pending against him in various Delhi courts.
