A 41-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman and duping another after creating fake profiles on matrimonial websites, the police said today.

A woman, working in the health sector, was contacted by one Siddharth Walia alias Anurag Mendiratta through a matrimonial website. He told her that he was working at a very senior position in a reputed media house in Mumbai. Subsequently he started talking to her over phone and via social media, they said.

He lied to the victim that he was shifting to the UK for his father's treatment. The woman later transferred an amount of Rs 6 lakh to the accused, police said.

When the victim realised that she was being cheated, the accused stopped taking her calls or responding to her messages, they said.

The accused was later arrested, police said.

On being interrogated, the accused reportedly told the police that he had duped another woman from CR Park here, and had also sexually assaulted her.
