On being informed that Kailash Bawri (35) had killed a deer last night, forest officials raided his residence and arrested him, a police official said, adding a live deer was recovered from his possession.
Following interrogation, the accused led officials to the empty 15-feet deep well where carcasses of the nine deer were found, SHO of Lunkaransar Police Station, Shrawan Das Sant, told PTI.
We have not found any weapon from the accused. People of tribal community hunt deer with thin plastic rope in which the animal's legs get entangled, the SHO said.
