Phool Prasad, a casual labourer, strangulated to death his roommate Santram on July 27 with a plastic rope and fled after locking the room from outside, police said.
Prasad killed Santaram as he had been asking him to pay up Rs 150, which was his share of living expense, they said.
Police arrested Prasad yesterday from Badarpur area here.
Police initially did not know the name of the deceased as the owner of the room, which is located at Indraj colony in Bawana here, had not verified the name or background details of his tenants, a police official said.
"Prasad was preparing to escape to Nepal when he was arrested. On sustained interrogation, he confessed to have killed Santram as he was fed up by his taunts over non-payment of Rs 150," the official said.
Prasad claimed that he was unable to pay the money as he worked as a casual labourer and did not get work on regular basis. He confessed to have pre-planned the murder and brought some plastic rope to the room to kill him, he said.
