The Jammu and Kashmir Police Tuesday claimed to have solved the blind murder of a truck driver, with the arrest of a man in Kathua district, saying he was killed over some old rivalry.
Kuldeep Singh, who hailed from Haryana, was found unconscious with a head injury in Samba district here on the intervening night of October 3 and 4. He later died, a police spokesperson said.
"During inquiry, it came to light that the driver was murdered by his accomplice, Anoop Kumar, and accordingly a murder case was registered and a massive hunt launched to nab him," he said.
Kumar hailed from Balsambadh village in Haryana's Hisar district and he killed Singh over an old rivalry, the spokesperson said.
Kumar was arrested in Kathua district after a special team was constituted which raided the places he was suspected of hiding, police said.
The spokesman said the grievously injured driver was initially admitted in Government Medical College hospital Jammu but later shifted to his native in Hissar for further treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
