Man arrested for rape and murder sent to jail for 14 days

A 24-year-old man, alleged to be a serial rapist and murderer, was today sent to judicial custody for two weeks by a Delhi court in connection with a case of rape and murder of a six-year-old girl here.
Accused Ravinder Kumar, who hails from Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, was produced before Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav where he complained that he fear for his life in the jail where he would be lodged in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, after the hearing when Kumar was taken to the lock-up inside the court premises, a unidentified man tried to slap him but the policemen prevented the incident.
Regarding the apprehension raised by accused, the court asked him to approach the jail superintendent.
According to police, Kumar had confessed to sexually assaulting and killing at least 14 other children in the past six years.
Police had earlier said that Kumar targeted young girls in Delhi, NCR and western UP and that he used to lure young girls with chocolates and money.

Kumar was arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in outer Delhi's Begumpur area. The girl was reported missing on July 14 morning and an FIR was subsequently registered at Begumpur police station.
The body of the girl was found in an under-construction three-storey building, hardly 50 metres from her house. During search, some papers and a driving licence were found on the second floor of the building, police said, adding the driving licence was issued in the name of one Sunny.
Sunny, who was traced to a hospital, told policemen that Ravinder, his brother Sunil, and a juvenile accomplice had beaten him at Utsav Vihar and snatched his motorcycle, driving licence, mobile phone and Rs 2,000.
Soon after, police teams zeroed in on Kumar and his aides. According to the police, Kumar was earlier arrested in connection with a case of sexual assault of a minor in 2014.
