A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly robbing pedestrians in soutwest Delhi's Dwarka area, police said Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Vikas Singh, a resident of JJ Colony. He was nabbed with an illegal firearm on Tuesday, police said.
Singh was booked in a case of arms act for possessing illegal firearm. He was also arrested in 2017 in an assault case, they said.
A senior police official said Singh was fond of costly cigarettes and liquor.
"To fulfil his addiction, he procured a country made pistol and planned to target pedestrians at secluded places of Dwarka.
"He was finding his new target when he was nabbed by the police," the senior police officer said.
The accused worked as a security guard for few months but often fought with colleagues following which he was sacked.
He started taking drugs and spent all his income on it, the officer added.
