Rajesh Kapoor was arrested from Paharganj area after he was identified with the help of CCTV footage at the duty free shop.
Two days ago, Gurgaon-based Komal Sood had filed a complaint allegeing her three credit cards of different banks were stolen from her cabin baggage in the flight.
She discovered the theft after she received a message that about USD 2016 from her cards was spent.
Acting on her complaint, a police team was formed and details of the transactions was sought from the bank.

Kapoor had got himself offloaded from a flight and his details were taken from the airlines. It was found that he had been arrested in a theft case at the Delhi airport.
Following which, police scanned through their old records and found his address.
Raids were conducted during which he was found that he had changed his address and sources were deployed to track him down. The accused was nabbed from Paharganj area.
"He frequently visited other countries. He has lived in Singapore and Malaysia for two years. While travelling by air, the idea of stealing credit cards and valuables of co-passengers came to his mind as he found them more vulnerable and least suspecting," said Bhatia.
Kapoor had previously been involved in theft cases at railway stations.
"In April last, he had booked a flight for Mumbai and prior to boarding the flight he had stolen Canadian USD 5800 from the baggage of a co-passenger at IGI Airport," the officer said.
