N Naveen Babu, the accused, hacked the email account of the victim, created a fake Facebook profile in her name, and sent abusive and defamatory messages from her account to her friends, police said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Janaki Sharmila said Babu also called up the victim from various mobile number, sent her abusive and threatening text messages and demanded Rs 1 lakh for deleting the fake Facebook profile.
The woman approached the Cyber Crime Police Station last month and told the police that she suspected Babu, a former employee of the company where she works.
