The arrested man who confessed to the crime, allegedly perpetrated the crime after inducing the playful victim with chocolates yesterday, the police said.
The toddler was playing in the backyard of the house alone when the accused had induced her by offering chocolates before committing the offence, said Uma Shankar Maharana, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Pattamundai, quoting the contents of the FIR lodged with the police.
The girl's mother filed the FIR against the accused this morning and alleged that her minor daughter was lured with a chocolate to a secluded place in the village by the accused person and was raped.
The accused was booked under sections-376 (2)(i) of the IPC, sections 3(a),4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 Act and section-3 of SC and ST (Atrocity Prevention) Act, 1989, the Police said.
