Mazhar Ali, 55 who hails from Sultanpuri in west Delhi, was arrested around 8.45 AM yesterday following a tip off that he would be visiting the area to deliver the contraband to a conduit, police said today.
A crime branch team also recovered 300 grams of "fine quality" heroin from him, they said, adding that the probe was on to unearth the drugs racket involving other co-accused.
A case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against Ali.
During interrogation, Ali revealed that he was a drug addict and entered into the illegal trade to meet his expenses, police said.
Ali was earlier arrested in 2004 and later got convicted in another drugs case, they said, adding that he has been named accused in four other similar cases.
