Additional Sessions Judge Suresh Chand Rajan asked the man, running a computer firm here, to pay the maintenance to his estranged wife, allegedly thrown out of her matrimonial house by her husband and in-laws in January 2010.
The sessions court's order came on a petition by the man for setting aside the magisterial court's May 2011 decision, directing him to give the monthly alimony to his wife.
"I did not find any illegality, infirmity or impropriety in the order passed by the metropolitan magistrate on May 4, 2011 and therefore the same is maintained," said the court dismissing the man's appeal.
In her plea to the magisterial court, the woman, a Delhi resident, had alleged her marriage was solemnised with the man in February 2009 but soon after the marriage, her husband and in-laws began harassing and beating her up.
She said she was thrown out of her matrimonial house in January 2010, since when she has been residing with her parents.
The counsel for the woman had said she on several occasions tried to return to her matrimonial home but she was not allowed to enter the house. (More)
