Man attacks married woman; attempts suicide

A man allegedly attacked a married woman by slitting her throat and setting her on fire before immolating himself at Kishanbagh area here today, police said.
Mohd Arif, a labourer, who was allegedly having an "illicit affair" with the woman, who is a close relative, went to her house and slit her throat besides setting her on fire and attempted suicide by immolating himself, resulting in serious burn injuries to him, they said, adding both of them were rushed to a nearby hospital.
A case of attempt to murder and attempt to commit suicide were booked under relevant sections of the IPC by the Bahadurpura police. Further investigations were on.
