A man today attempted to commit suicide by immolating himself at the District and Sessions court here after his revision petition challenging his jail term in a gambling case was rejected by the court.
Vishnu Bagaraia (42) sprinkled some combustible material over himself in the court premises when District Judge K D Bhatt turned down his revision petition challenging his two-month incarceration in a gambling case, police said.
Bagaria, a labourer, was rushed to a hospital here from where he was referred to Dehradun's Doon hospital with 90 per cent burns, they said, adding his condition was stated to be critical.
The victim was sentenced to two months in prison by the CJM's court in a gambling case dating back to 2011.
