Basavaraju, who is in his twenties, had come to the city to seek financial help from Siddaramaiah to cure his unknown disease but officials refused an appointment with the Chief Minister and turned him away, asking him to get his health records, they said.
Frustrated over failing to get an appointment, Basavaraju allegedly consumed more than ten sleeping pills in front of his house.
In his suicide note, Basavaraju said he was suffering from an unknown disease and doctors were reluctant to reveal it, police said.
He was rushed to hospital, where he is recuperating, they said.
