Man beaten to death on suspicion of performing black magic

A 56-year-old man was beaten to death by a mob on the suspicion that he was performing black magic, in the district, police said today.
The incident occurred in Soburu village of Dumbriguda mandal on October 14. But it came to light this morning following a complaint by the wife of the deceased P Konda, Dumbriguda Police Station Inspector Rama Krishna said.
As per the complaint, Konda, a farmer, was taken away from his house by some villagers on the pretext of talking to him, she said.
Later he was taken to an isolated place and beaten to death. His body was also burnt, the officer said.

His wife has given names of the eight accused. A case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC and investigations are underway, police said, adding efforts are on to nab the accused.
