Thane Rural police today booked a man from Nallasopara of Thane district's western part for allegedly burning his wife for a petty reason, the police said.
Police Sanja Nikam of the Nallasopara police station told PTI that it was on June 1, when the accused Nandakumar Gautam Barsale, a resident of Nallasopara asked his wife to serve him lunch.
However, since his wife, Jyoti N Barasle (23) was busy doing something else, she could not attend to his request immediately.
The annoyed husband dragged his wife to the kitchen, doused her in kerosene and allegedly set her afire.
Later, she succumbed to her burn injuries at Nair Hospital on June 10, the police said.
Today evening, the Nallasopara police registered an offence under Section 302 against the accused and launched a manhunt for him, the police said.
