A complaint was lodged today at Dalmiya Nagar police station in Bihar's Rohtas district by two victims, Nitish Kumar and Manish Kumar, accusing one Manoj Kumar of swindling about 20 persons of Rs 1.42 crore, Superintendent of Police Shivdeep Lande said.
The victims alleged that Manoj, a native of Dalmiya Nagar town, cheated them on the pretext of getting them government jobs in Jharkhand Secretariat earlier this year, Lande said.
They claimed that the accused took Rs 9 lakh from some of them for jobs as the secretariat assistant and Rs 7 lakh for clerical jobs, but neither did he get them jobs nor returned the money, the SP said.
The SP said raids were being carried to nab the accused.
