The security of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was today breached here when a man managed to approach his car to hand over a charter of demands.
The incident occurred when Yadav was leaving the venue after a laptop distribution function here at around 11 A.M.
When the CM's convoy reached the main gate of the police lines, a member of the Non-Gazetted Police Welfare Association, who was in uniform, suddenly stopped the first car in the fleet.
That triggered chaotic scenes at the spot, taking advantage of which the association's national president, Brijendra Singh Yadav, walked up to the CM's car.
He was armed with a memorandum of 21 demands based on promises made by Samajwadi Party in its election manifesto.
It took the CM's security some 8-9 minutes to rein in the crowd and clear the path for the convoy to proceed even as Akhilesh and SSP Ajay Kumar Mishra were seen reprimanding a senior police official.
Meanwhile, when contacted about the incident, police and district officials declined to comment on the matter.
