A 30-year-old man carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000 was arrested after being on the run for seven years for his alleged involvement in a dacoity case at Mayapuri area, police said Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Ranjeet Kumar alias Ranjeet Yadav, a resident of Etah district in Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place seven years ago when a group of seven to eight armed dacoits tried to invade a highly-secured locker of one Writers Safe Guard Pvt Ltd at Mayapuri, a retail cash management company which facilitates secure movement of cash between banks, retail outlets and consumers, said Bhisham Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime).
The company maintains a cash amount of crores in its lockers round-the-clock and deployed armed security guards for securing the cash, he said.
The dacoits were having experience of working in such installations as security guards and had full knowledge of security aspects of such highly-secured locations.
Most of them belong to Mainpuri and Etah districts of Uttar Pradesh and procured classy tools like gas-cutter and arms to execute their plan, the DCP said.

They were desperate enough and attacked the security guards deployed at the company and tried to loot huge amounts of cash, he said.
However, their plan failed when an alert security guard managed to escape and called police. The accused snatched the gun of a security guard and fled from the spot. Except Yadav, all other accused persons had already been arrested, Singh added.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Kumar had a good experience and knowledge of loopholes of security breach as he had worked in security agencies during earlier in Gujarat, Haryana and Delhi, police said.
In 2005, he was arrested in a murder case of a security guard, one of his colleagues, by the Gujarat Police. He spent almost a year in prison.
