26-year-old Charaf Elmoudden and an accomplice, who was not caught, broke into the British singer's 1.2 million pounds home in Kensal Rise she shares with her sister Elena and seized valuables, ranging from Louis Vuitton shoes, vintage handbags, earrings and an assortment of laptops and iPhones, reported BBC.
Elena, who is also Rita's manager, woke up at approximately 5:50 am on November 28 last year to find Elmoudden at the end of her bed searching her room for items to steal.
Elmoudden was spotted on CCTV waiting outside the house until gone midnight and then entering the three-storey property.
He denied being involved, claiming it was mistaken identity, but a jury found him guilty of one count of burglary on Wednesday.
The Moroccan-born man, who served a 15-month prison sentence in 2010 for trying to sell post-mortem pictures of the "Harry Potter" actor Rob Knox, escaped deportation from the UK because he has lived here since he was four years old.
