"Kishore Kumar alias Kishori was arrested yesterday on specific inputs when he arrived at Kashmere gate ISBT here from Sirsa, disguised as 'Kanwariya', to meet his contact," said Sanjay Kumar Jain, DCP Crime and Railways.

In January 2001, Kishori and his associate Ghanshyam had shot at Delhi Police Sub Inspector Vinod Yadav when he was on patrol at Majnu ka Tila and found both of them sitting in a car in secluded place.

The two got down from the car and tried to escape, but Yadav and constable Bijender chased and apprehended them but on the instigation of Kishori, Ghanshyam fired at Yadav who was later declared brought dead at hospital.

Later, both the accused were arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment by a sessions court. They filed an appeal in Delhi High Court which also upheld their sentence in 2009. Ghanshyam was sent to Tihar Jail while Kishori absconded.

Police became active after they received information that in last two months Kishori was seen in Chandigarh, Sirsa and Himachal Pradesh, the official said.

During interrogation, he said that since 2008, he stayed in Chandigarh with his relatives. Then in 2010, he came to Sirsa to live with his another maternal uncle and in between he used to visit Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Dehradun to evade arrest, the police official said.

"He had changed his looks and was living in Sirsa in the guise of a property dealer, locally known as 'Lala'. At ISBT also he was in such a disguise that it was very difficult to recognise him," Jain said.
