The deceased was identified as B Laxman Rao, who had retired from a bank on September 30.
"The pole was bent since yesterday. It fell on Rao when he was returning home after giving his two-wheeler for servicing," police sub-inspector B Srinu Naik said.
"He died instantaneously due to heavy bleeding from injuries to the head, and not due to electric shock," the officer said, adding that Rao's brother lodged a complaint against the state power department accusing it of negligence in not replacing the pole.
