Man fatally knocked down by bus; tension in Annur

: Tension prevailed for some time at Annur in the district today when some people blocked vehicular traffic after a private bus fatally knocked down a motorcylist, police said
The man, an electrician in a local mill, was on his way to work at around 6.30 AM at the town, some 35 km from here when the mishap occurred, police said.
The bus was proceeding to Sathyamangalam from here when it hit the motorcyclist, killing him on the spot.
On coming to know of her husband's death, his wife, a local body member, rushed to the spot with relatives and other members of the public, squatted on the road with the body and demanded the immediate arrest of the bus driver, who fled from the spot, police said.

They dispersed after police assured them that the guilty would be booked and action taken against them.
