A 46-year-old man from West Bengal was found dead under mysterious circumstances at an abandoned 'dhaba' in Kumarapalayam of the district, police said today.
The deceased has been identified as Sameerkumar, an employee of a private company in Kerala. The body, bluish in colour, was found near a water tank in the 'dhabha' used by truck crew to take bath and wash their vehicles, they said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Sameerkumar had boarded a train to Kerala on January 27 to return to work after a visit to his native place.
However, it was not known how he came to Kumarapalayam.
Police suspect he could have alighted at Erode railway junction, which is around seven kms from Kumarapalayam.
The body has been shifted to Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College hospital in neighbouring Salem and police are awaiting the arrival of his family members for further action.
