Fast Track Court Judge Lingeswaran sentenced P Thanavel to 14 years imprisonment for sexually abusing the eight-year old girl and three years imprisonment for kidnapping her. Both the sentences would run concurrently.
The Judge also slapped a fine of Rs 13,000 on the convict.
According to the prosecution, on April 4, 2014, Thanavel took the girl, who was waiting for bus, on his motorbike saying he was also going to her village Sholankurichi.
However, he took her to a eucalyptus tree grove, sexually abused her and abandoned her there itself and fled the scene.
