Man gets 30 years in jail for taking loan on fake documents

A designated CBI court today convicted a man to 30 years in jail and imposed a hefty fine of Rs 54.72 lakh for obtaining a loan from a bank on forged documents to purchase a power tiller two years ago.
Special Judge Manoj Kumar Singh convicted Sudhir Kumar, a native of Shekhpura village of Arwal district, to 30 years imprisonment and imposed the fine on him after finding him guilty of various penal offences in obtaining the loan of from Madhya Bihar Grameen Bank's branch in Mushari village in 2015 to buy a power tiller.
The judge directed the authorities to recover the penalty by selling Kumar's properties if he failed to pay the amount.
On the defence counsel's prayer for reduction in sentence, the judge said the convicted was a habitual offender as he had been convicted in two other cases earlier.
