The court, which held Bihar native Dinesh Dass guilty of offence under section 302 (murder) of the IPC, also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him while noting that he was last seen with the victim and had absconded after his death.
"The findings on the circumstances that deceased was last seen in the company of the accused, recovery of the knife ...His absconding from his tenanted premises immediately after the murder and non-joining the last rites coupled with the strong motive as he suspected that deceased is having illicit relation with his wife, I am of the opinion that prosecution has fully discharged its onus and proved the guilt of the accused beyond doubt," Additional Sessions Judge Virender Kumar Bansal said.
It said the accused had suspected illicit relations between his wife and the victim and had quarrelled over the issue several times.
During trial, Dinesh had denied the allegations levelled against him and claimed he was innocent.
