A court here has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering a jeweller.

District and Sessions judge, Ambala, Vikram Aggawal yesterday awarded life sentence to Bahadur Singh, a resident of Lalru in Punjab, in connection with the murder of Rajneesh Verma.

The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on the convict. Two other convicts in the case have already been awarded life term by the Ambala Court.

Singh was absconding since April 2015 and was nabbed by the police in 2016. Later, he underwent the trial before the Ambala court.

Verma (34) was running a wholesale jewellery shop in Baldevnagar at Ambala City. He had gone to Lalru on a two-wheeler to deliver a consignment.

As Verma did not turn up till late in the evening that day, his relatives lodged a missing person complaint at Baldevnagar police station in Ambala.
