Amin Munawwar, who was held guilty under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC, was awarded life term by Additional Sessions Judge H K Mishra. The court also ordered him to pay a compensation of Rs 20,000 to the victim.
Public prosecutor Santosh Chaurasia said that Amin had tried to kill Neha, 35, by throwing acid at her in October 2011.
According to him, Amin had been jailed in connection with the eve teasing case involving Neha's daughter.
After his release from jail, Amin had pressurised Neha to withdraw the case agaist him. However, since she refused to do so, on October 18, 2011 Amin entered her house and threw acid on her, in which she suffered 60 per cent burn injuries.
