Man gets lifer in former MLA murder case

Additional sessions judge Devraj Prasad Singh today held Deena Nath Yadav alias Sadhu Yadav guilty of killing former MLA Indrabhadra Singh over a dispute in 1999 and awarded him the punishment, prosecution sources said here.

Singh, a former MLA from Isauli seat, was killed in bomb attack near his house allegedly over a dispute related to saint Gyaneshwar ashram on January 21, 1999, they said.

Besides Yadav, saint Gyaneshwar, Raghurj Sharma, Devi Prasad Jaiswal and Motilal were also made accused in the FIR.

Raghuraj Sharma and Jaiswal were acquitted for lack of evidence.

Saint Gyaneshwar was killed in Allahabad during the course of trail, whereas Motilal is absconding, the sources said.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict.
